According to new aggregate e-commerce data that has been released from HookLogic (HookLogic runs an ad network for retail sites such as Target, Macy’s and Walmart) found that the overall conversion rate is up by 71%. In addition, total traffic was up 53%. This data is for the week beginning November 16th, the latest data currently available and the time just before the major Thanksgiving week shopping.
The increase is over the baseline of traffic, which was compiled from data gathered from October 1st to October 31st.
There is always an uptick in traffic and conversions this time of year as people are getting into the holiday shopping mode. Some of the most commonly searched and purchased items are TVs, Christmas trees, laptops, tablets and curtains.
Another interesting point in the data is that during the week measured, mobile traffic beat out desktop traffic. Mobile devices generated 50.6% of the shopping traffic measured in the report, with desktops generating 49.4%. This is part of the continuing trend of more and more people shopping from their phones and tablets.
The conversion rates and traffic is only going to grow in the coming weeks so marketers all need to make sure they are working hard to get their piece of this pie.
