A lot of people are really, really terrified by Penguin 2.0 and rightly so. Yesterday Penguin 2.0 was launched and while it only affected a small amount of US websites, it seems that a lot of content marketers were seriously killed. The problems are quite numerous, but the main issues have to do with bad links or link-spam. Jennifer Selleck gives an in-depth look at what went wrong with Penguin 2.0 and how you can possibly change what happened.
Google implemented the “Penguin” algorithm update, that did a lot of things, but mainly penalyzed sites for having over-optimized backlinking, keyword stuffing, and duplicate content creation. “Penguin 2.0” basically goes a step further and creates severe penalties to websites’ backlinks and content. Penguin 2.0 will target over-optimized Title Tags and backlinks coming from spam sites and you may receive a penalty from Google. The Penguin 2.0 update seems to be the strictest algorithm update to date.
