Moving to cloud computing the systems upon which mobile innovation and gaming services rely may be a way to gain a lead position. Focusing on the internet aspects of the gaming and mobile phone industries will require the knowledge of an expert like Nadella.

Nadella Has Demonstrated Business and Marketing Skills

Several candidates for the CEO position were considered for their experience in CEO positions for other large tech companies. While Nadella lacks this detail on his resume, he has already shown an ability to understand the market and shape Microsoft’s business model.

The division he led most recently was not originally seen as a force within the cloud-computing industry. Nadella’s business savvy and ability to move users from software and hardware into the cloud, as well as to foresee cloud computing as the direction in which business was headed, allowed him to offer both software and internet-based applications bearing the Microsoft name to the market.

Nadella Is the Right Personality for the Position

Nadella manages to combine technical knowledge, experience in the field, and a drive to innovate with the business savvy, human resources, and marketing skills needed in a business leader. Through his role with the Cloud and Enterprise group, he has gained managerial experience and worked with clients in big business. He has gained a reputation for being approachable and personable.

Having worked within the organization for over two decades, he is familiar with the culture at Microsoft. Nadella survived reorganizations and changes to the structure that failed in the past, and his unique insider position has the potential to be a major benefit to Microsoft.

His ability to connect with people, combined with his technical knowledge, will be an asset to Microsoft with him in the lead. Understanding and excelling in the interpersonal dynamics of the role will allow him to engage with both project leaders and employees.

In addition to his approachability, he brings a knowledge base that can be trusted by the technologists within the ranks of Microsoft. This could prove to be the advent of a culture shift within Microsoft that might help the divisions pull together and work more collaboratively.
