The travel meta-search company, Wego, has officially launched a new affiliate network that will make it much easier for marketers to profit from their travel minded visitors. Wego has long been providing some of the major travel sites with the technology and infrastructure to interact with all the major airlines and hotel chains. Up until this point, however, it would take a significant investment to have a well designed and put together affiliate site, which prevented many people from fully capitalizing on this niche.
Most marketers would rely on text or image ads to monetize their travel related traffic, or else use some sort of affiliate program that didn’t convert well. With the launch of wan.travel, however, just about anyone can create their own custom branded site to provide their visitors with high quality deals on their flights and hotel rooms.
Allister Barretto, Director of Affiliate Marketing with Wego said, “For many years Wego’s travel meta search technology has been used by major airports, national tourism boards and large travel portals who have customized and rebranded the Wego experience and offered it as a feature for their own sites. The Wego Affiliate Network (www.wan.travel) provides travel and tourism publishers with a set of DIY tools to integrate airfare and hotel search capabilities into their sites.”
Anyone who runs a travel blog or anything that has visitors who may purchase airline tickets or hotel rooms will now be able to have their own ‘deals’ portal. This portal will be branded with their own logos and other information, giving visitors a single site that they deal with, which can help improve sales.
The program has been in testing for some time, with great results. Barretto said of the early testing, “Affiliates who have been beta testing the new WAN.travel platform are seeing significantly higher returns compared to common text ads and static display advertising. The gains have been even more significant for sites that attract a higher proportion of users who are in ‘shopping mode.’
Anyone who runs a site in the travel niche will certainly want to look closely at this exciting new affiliate platform, and see if it is right for their type of traffic.
