I believe that my coverage of the industry has helped saved people millions of dollars. If not for me, who would have written about Epic, COPEAC and many other companies and forced them to close their doors and admit their financial problems? When I took on those companies, almost everyone applauded and said, “Good Work.” When I wrote about a company that was going out of business, that some of the same people “liked the owner,” I was trashed as being unbiased.
Still, while I believe that my coverage has honestly been unbiased and truthful, I have decided that its in the best interest in the industry to create an editorial board to oversee our editorial decisions.
45,000 people receive our newsletter and thousands more come from social media and other sources. It’s obvious with this much reach, it is important that there is always a perception of professionalism.
It serves no one for this publication to be seen as only a personal communication device for myself.
Also, it would benefit the industry, the publication and allow for a diverse amount of opinions to be written about – both by selected writers and columnists, and by the direction of the board to look into issues that they feel is important.
It would also provide a method to prevent any possible bias moving forward and ensure that all articles of editorial nature are reviewed before publishing.
We will be seeking candidates from all segments of the industry, and also two affiliates who feel that their insight can be used. If you are interested in joining the board, please send me your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org and why you should join. If you are an affiliate, even someone who doesn’t agree with my publication 99% of the time, please also submit your information along with a reference from a major affiliate network. I invite any detractor to talk to me about the possibility of joining.
We have already had several well known people in the industry agree to join, including some famous bloggers. It will be a good way to be involved in helping shape the industry and also network.
I hope that this can solve and put behind any sort of claims of biased in our coverage and that we can stop any drama and questions immediately. If you have questions, please reach out to me personally, and I will do my best to address them.
