Trouble at Twitter?

Over the weekend there was some big changes at Twitter.  Four of their senior executives left the company and there may have been others that aren’t yet confirmed.  Some people also expect more to follow suit over the next week or so.

The head of the media department, Katie Stanton has been confirmed as leaving.  As has Alex Roetter, the head of the engineering division.  Jason Toff was the leader of Twitter’s VINE product and has left.  Finally, the head of Product, Kevin Weil is no longer with the company.

They all left voluntarily and for apparently differing reasons, but whenever multiple high level employees leave at roughly the same time people are going to wonder if there was really a back story that caused them to leave.

Toff said on his Twitter account that he is moving from Twitter to work on Virtual Reality at Google.  Stanton, a mother of three, said she is leaving to focus on family.  Roetter and Weil also said that they are leaving the company in order to focus more on family.

Twitter has announced some changes to the management structure of the company to help compensate for the employees who are leaving.  It can also be assumed that they will be hiring some replacements to hopefully get things more settled, but that is not something they will want to rush into or it could cause further problems in the long run.

What, if any, impact this will have on Twitter’s products, including their popular ads that were largely built up by Roetter and Weil, will be seen over the coming weeks and months.  For now, things seem to be operating as usual.
