A recent survey was completed concerning the 2015 holiday shopping season. The survey targeted retailers in the US and UK and found that 59% of respondents said that they have already started their holiday promotional campaigns. The survey was completed by ChannelAdvisor.
Even if you haven’t yet seen specific holiday advertisements, marketers are planning out campaigns and getting ads ready to go. About 74% of retailers report that 20% or more of their annual sales come during the holiday season so it is no surprise that they put so much focus on successfully marketing their brand or products this time of year.
Not surprisingly, black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the days that retailers say are the most important. When asked what the most profitable day of the year is, 44% of respondents said black Friday, 26% said Cyber Monday. Free Shipping Day, which is a newcomer to the holiday marketing game did surprisingly well as well, with 21% saying that is their most profitable day.
82% of survey responders say that they expect sales to increase this year compared to last year with 21% of those saying they are looking for a 15+% increase for the holiday season.
Whether it plays out as they want or not, there is no denying that we are quickly approaching the most important marketing season of the year. Marketers of all types really need to make sure they have their plans in place and ready to go or they could be missing out on huge potential.
