Twitter Loses Exec to Pinterest

In an ongoing effort to improve monetization, Pinterest has ‘stolen’ Nipoon Malhotra from Twitter.  Malhotra will be joining Pinterest to help lead the company’s overall advertising and monetization into the future. Pinterest  has been working hard to improve their ability to make money over the past year, launching a variety of new ads and the ability to buy through their platform.

This latest move should further help this effort.  Malhotra has served as the head of Twitter’s brand advertising product team.

Pinterest’s head of product for Monetization, Jonathan Shottan said, “Nipoon is a proven leader with the ability to execute and scale teams and revenue generating products.  We are thrilled to have him as part of the team as we continue to grow and innovate on ads and commerce.

Malhorta has had a long history of helping major tech companies in the past.  Prior to Twitter he ran Bing’s Whole Page Ranking product team and also worked on Amazon’s S3 storage system.

This will likely be a very nice move for Pinterest and their ability to continue to improve their overall monetization strategy in both the short and the long term.  This could also bring even more innovation and options for marketers to take advantage of when using the Pinterest platform to attract customers.
