For digital marketers, few things are more important than getting your site to rank well in the search engines. If you can get your page in the top few results for the right keywords, it will generate a lot of traffic and a lot of potential sales. The problem, however, is that there are thousands or even millions of other sites that are competing for the same rankings.
This has always been an issue, and the reason that the SEO industry is so big. According to a recent Google+ post, however, the issue is about to get even more difficult. Google will be adding Pins & Vines into their search results. This means your site will not only have to compete with other websites, videos on YouTube and other items, but also individual pins and vines.
With millions of new Pins and Vines being produced, this could have a dramatic impact on the SERPs for Google. Of course, other search engines are likely to follow suit as well.
Marketers will need to work harder than ever to get their sites to rank well. Wise marketers are making improvements by creating their own Pins and Vines so they have additional ways to show up in the rankings. In fact, according to a recent survey only 24% of B2B companies don’t have a social media presence, which shows that most of them are active at least on the major social media sites.
No matter how you handle your marketing, however, you should take this move by Google as a warning. If you’re not on the social media sites today, you’ll soon be pushed out of the SERPs and lose a lot of potential traffic to your marketing sites.
