Google Alerts Site Owners of Malware Issues

Those who use Google Analytics to track stats on their site (which is most of us) will have a new warning when their site has been hacked or otherwise compromised with malware.  Google is extending their safe browsing protections into the Google Analytics platform.  This service has been part of the Webmaster Tools platform for some time now, and it has helped many site owners to respond quickly to these types of issues.

Users will be notified via a Google Alerts that their page may have been compromised.  The alert will provide information on exactly where the malware is located so that it will be easier to address.  Another nice perk is that they give some guidance on how to remove many types of malware.

Google has also upgraded their normal Safebrowsing efforts, which often show up when browsing to an infected page while using the Google Chrome browser.  This helps the average browser to avoid potentially infected sites so that they are less likely to get a virus or malware.

This is a great effort being put forth by Google to help prevent the spread of online viruses and malware.  The faster website owners can learn of these issues, the fewer people will be affected, which is obviously a good thing for everyone on the Internet.

If you don’t already use Google Analytics, consider signing up for the free service today.
