A class-action lawsuit against Private Label Nutraceuticals has been filed in the Central District of California, United States District court against Private Label Nutraceurticals LLC (PLN) claiming deceptive and fraudulent practices in marketing their products, namely their green-tea extract weight loss product.
The lawsuit, brought by the attorneys fort Heather Schourup of California, against the George based company, says that the product claimed to have chlorogenic acid, a compound found in green tea that promotes weightloss, but in fact had little or none of the product but instead were essentially sugar pills and possibly had no green tea product in them.
According to the lawsuit:
Despite that Defendants knew, or should have known, that the Private Label’s Green Coffee Extract Product did not contain chlorogenic acid and/or only contained trace amounts of chlorogenic acid and did not truly contain green coffee extract, Defendants at all relevant times, labeled, marketed, advertised, and promoted the Private Label Green Coffee Extract Product line of products as containing “green coffee extract.” To this day, Defendants have taken no meaningful steps to clear up Plaintiff’s and members of the classes’misconceptions regarding their Private Label Green Coffee Extract Products.
A representative from PLN says that the lawsuit is completely meritless and that these products were sold and marketed over four years ago and no longer are sold.
