Buying Billboard Advertising Online is Still Fraught with Troubles

Billboards, which are part of the out-of-home advertising industry, have traditionally been a method of advertising that is a timely and costly endeavor.

Instacart CEO and founder Matt O’Connor, stated about his company’s experience when trying to purchase advertising on outdoor billboards, were “bogged down in the cumbersome process that took weeks of time and dozens of emails to gather options for campaigns.”

AdQuick, a startup company based in Santa Monica, introduced its first product that is designed to help manage the OOH(out-of-home) advertisement market.  This market includes billboards, displays on benches and sides of buildings, bus stops, etc.

This form of advertising is still mainly static, meaning there is a lot of work to do to get the over 90 percent of the static displays converted to electronic displays. With so many displays still static, the industry faces the issue of being an inefficient marketing medium.

With so many static displays, there is a vacancy rate as high as 40%. This is also due to the inefficiencies of the static displays making it difficult for advertisers to figure out the different options that are available in an area without doing quite a bit of research.

The AdQuick platform is the first of its kind to offer a full online experience when booking OOH ads. When using AdQuick, the advertiser is given the ability to electronically transmit their ad content to the electronic display they have chosen.

Another aspect of the Adquick platform is that it provides access to an analytics dashboard. The dashboard will help provide statics on the imp act of the marketing campaigns. AdQuick performs surveys before the campaign starts, and then again after the campaign has completed, in a nearby radius of market, and in a control market. With this data, they are able to determine brand awareness before and after the campaign.

AdQuick doesn’t currently integrate with any other marketing platforms, however, in the coming months their plans include compatibility with other marketing automation platforms and mobile ads.
