IBM’s Watson Powers This Marketing System

According to Equals 3, a new marketing focused system was recently launched, and it is called, “Lucy.” While there are many marketing systems available today, this one is quite different.  The first thing that sets Lucy apart is the fact that it is powered by the legendary Watson supercomputer, owned and run by IBM.

Scott Litman, a managing partner at Equals 3, says, “There is nothing in the marketplace like Lucy.  She is a user interface for all my marketing systems.”

The Lucy system takes 10 computing services from Watson, and uses them to provide marketers with easy access to a variety of different types of information that can be used to make smarter decisions that will hopefully provide a greater return on investment.  Equals 3 is involved with this by creating their own interface, which is used as a layer on other custom software to help all these services work together with a focus on marketing objectives.

This system can take in all sorts of data including structured inputs, unstructed raw data and more, and process it through the Watson APIs.  In addition, the system has access to data sources from the Advertising Research Foundation and the American Marketing Association.  It can also pull from Facebook, Twitter, Nielsen and many other sources.

According to Litman, the Lucy system can process more data per minute than full marketing teams can complete in a year.

Once all this data is analyzed, it will use it to answer marketing questions, make suggestions and much more.  At this time, Lucy is designed specifically for Fortune 1000 marketing efforts, but in the future it may become a powerful option for small businesses too.
