Brands Hate Instagram Marketing

Despite an exponential growth of users in the last year, making Instagram one of the top five social sites on the internet, it seems that perhaps Brands aren’t really fans of the application. New research from the marketing company, Yesmail shows that marketers and brands aren’t taking advantage of the advertising opportunities.

Yesmail took a look at 2,000 brands using its own tool and discovered that even though there was 278 percentage growth in followers of those brands, many companies are still not interested in having an account.

Yet Facebook and Twitter have over a 80 percent adoption rate at this point by most brands, and over 60 percent of all brands are using Youtube. Still, even while many marketers and brands are using both social media accounts, only 12 percent of them include instagram.

Michael Fisher, Presidewnt of Yes Lifecycle Marketing says that brands should be engaging with Instagram followers, “Instagram is a great way for brands to increase consumer engagement. Although no industry has fully embraced Instagram, brands would be smart to create a presence on the platform to ensure competitive advantage and reap the benefits of Instagram’s high follower growth rates.”
