Facebook ads are quickly becoming one of the most powerful tools in any marketer’s arsenal. They can be seen by millions of people, and they can be extraordinarily targeted based on virtually anything you can imagine. While Facebook is pretty good about approving most ads, they sometimes deny ads that pass through certain redirects such as bit.ly or others. In addition, there aren’t nearly as many options for tracking and analyzing the effectiveness of an ad when you are using a public redirect like that.
Whether you’re looking to get your previously denied ad approved, or you just want to have some additional control and information from your ads, you’ll want to learn how to setup redirects and landing pages that can be used when you are promoting an offer or anything else through Facebook ads. This will also give you additional flexibility when choosing products to promote, since some of them don’t allow direct linking.
Setting Up Your Domain
The first thing you’ll want to do is buy and set up a domain with hosting. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy, and you really don’t have to worry about things like keywords or SEO for this site. It will be used as a redirect page, as well as to collect analytics information for you to use. You should be able to get a new domain setup in just a few minutes, and without costing you much money at all.
Next, you want to install some sort of tracking software for your domain. There are dozens of them out there. Some of them are free, others have a set price, and still others are a subscription service. Choose the one you like best, which also has all the features you need. Make sure it will monitor the number of clicks, where the clicks are coming from, types of leads and other critical tracking information.
Setting Up Your Redirect
To setup the redirect you can either install something like WordPress with a redirect plugin, or you can simply make your own in HTML. Don’t be intimidated, HTML isn’t difficult and this page will only require a few lines. Setting up a HTML page for each offer makes it fast and easy to track a variety of different offers. Here is an easy HTML example that you can quickly edit and use for your redirect site:
<html>
<head>
<title>Your Offer Title</title>
<style>
* {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<iframe src=”http://www.YourOfferSiteURL.com” width=”100%” height=”100%” frameborder=”0″ marginheight=”0″ marginwidth=”0″>
<p>Click <a href=”http://www. YourOfferSiteURL.com”>here</a>! (Your browser does not support iframes)</p>
</iframe>
</body>
</html>
Just edit the above text and save it as a .html file, before uploading it to your site. You then set this as the destination for your Facebook ads. When a visitor arrives, they will be immediately redirected to your true offer page (often a page hosted by the product you’re promoting). In many cases the visitors won’t even notice the redirect is occurring.
